What do moms really want on Mother’s Day?

Have you ever wondered if flowers, chocolates or jewelry truly work magic with moms on Mother’s Day?

Surprise! None of these sweet traditional treats are on mothers’ wish list for Mother’s Day as most of them desire for nothing but a day off from parenting—freedom from urgent to-do lists, household chores and tantrums of the kids, even just for one day—according to a recent study by Disney’s online parenting magazine, Babble.com.

Closely following parenting day-off on the list is sleep, a heaven’s sent gift especially for mombies (mommies + zombies) who manage to report to work sleepless after a long night of nursing their toddlers with new-found sleeping patterns!

Completing moms’ Mother’s Day wish list are delicious food (not cooked by them, of course!), several hours alone to binge-watch TV shows and movies, a clean house, foot massage and a bottle of wine.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner why not make this year’s celebration a lot more memorable by granting their biggest wish—a Mommy Me-Time day off doing anything and everything that makes her happy. No questions asked!

Well-known for being a family-friendly haven for moms, SM Supermalls, the country’s biggest mall network, is set to throw fun and heartwarming treats as early as April to pay tribute to Filipina SuperMoms, the strong, loving, hardworking women who always put their families first in everything they do.

Let Mommy Me-Time at SM begin this April 26 (Tuesday) when SM malls mount Instagrammable grand floral displays perfect as selfie backdrops of SuperMoms who will participate in the “Mom’s Kitchen” fair, a special gathering of mall merchants and mommy entrepreneurs featuring their delectable sweets, cakes and pastries.

Finding time for exercise and taking care of one’s self will be highlighted in the “Mom Bods” exercise sessions where mothers will be treated to free Zumba and Body Jam dance classes. On the other hand, the spotlight will shine on fashionista moms with their kids who will strut their stuff wearing the latest moms and kids apparel on “Runway Moms” fashion show. “Mom’s Kitchen” fair, “Mom Bods” and “Runway Moms” will happen in select SM malls from April 26 to May 8.

Meanwhile, singing SuperMoms will conquer the stage come May 4 to 8 for the “Musical Moms” talent contest where amazing prizes are at stake.

Ultimately, the most special treat will be given on Mother’s Day itself, May 8, when SM Supermalls across the country spoil SuperMoms will different forms of gifts and surprises from mall merchants’ respective #HappySuperMomsDay promos.

To make the celebration extra-memorable, SM will hold a digital promo from April 22 to May 8 where shoppers are encouraged to upload their #InstaMOMents or instant bonding moments showing them and their mothers.1,000 winners will be e-raffled and will win SM shopping GCs.

SM BEAUTY’S MAKEOVER MASTERS 2016

The SM Beauty recently celebrated the work of six Makeover Masters, giving them recognition as artists in the Makeup Industry who have turned their craft and talent into a profession.

Held at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, the event presented SM Beauty’s Makeover Masters 2016 with their best supportive muses: Cristine Duque with Denise Laurel, Denise Ochoa with Jodi Sta. Maria, Jake Galvez with Vice Ganda, Mickey See with Jolina Magdangal, Robbie Piñera with Anne Curtis, and Jigs Mayuga with Chesca Kramer

SM Beauty also paid tribute to the country’s original Makeover Masters —Fanny Serrano, James Cooper, and Jesi Mendez, who were awarded as pillars and pioneers of the beauty industry.

Fanny Serrano considers it as his strength as he has seen “the transition of changes in make-up artistry” and at this point, he still “wants to continue learning.” Working in the beauty industry for over 45 years with some of the country’s most beautiful and stylish women, he says that through the years, he was “able to see the real meaning of beauty, and that is –confidence.”

James Cooper, on the other hand, has worked with several Hollywood celebrities and was the first Filipino to introduce air-brush makeup in the Philippines. What truly makes him happy is that he gets “to share my knowledge and earnings. I am happy that a lot of talented hairstylists and makeup artists are passionate in what they do, and that I also learn from them.” For James, “beauty is like the light that comes from your heart, adding that “women should wear makeup because it makes them feel good.”

Jesi Mendez says that, “beauty is when you look at things beautifully. When you have confidence and a positive outlook, you will always look beautiful.” After three decades in the salon industry, Jesi would like to share with young artists “not to work for money but to work because they love what they do.”

Joining in the festivities were other top makeup experts who have worked in film, fashion, commercial, bridal, and who have made beauty their business. Each one received a PRO-Card, which entitles the bearer to discounts and perks from the store. The SM Beauty Section is the first and only retailer to offer such a privilege to these professional artists.

After holding the Beauty Ball for the professionals, SM Beauty will hold the biggest Makeover Event in the country at the Mega Fashion Hall on May 7 and May 8, 2016. Participants can get a free makeover and beauty discounts and witness the beauty show featuring the craft of the Makeover Masters 2016.   Check Facebook (www.facebook.com/smbeautyph) and Instagram page (@smbeautyph) for more details.
