SM City San Pablo and Director Brillante Mendoza partnered for “TAKLUB” Film Appreciation and Workshop

SM City San Pablo conducted a Film Appreciation named “TAKLUB” under the award winning and noted Indie film director, Direk Brillante Ma Mendoza.

The film showing was attended with different schools and community partners of SM San Pablo. Attendees include Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip and his wife Ms An Alip of CARD BANK, Rotary Club San Pablo City Central, Art Insite Culture and Pableños Group of Artist by Sinkul Culture and the Arts Association. Different Schools in Laguna also attended like Palm Valley International School, Secular Male Institute of the Two Hearts, STI College San Pablo Campus, San Pablo Colleges, South Lakes Integrated School, Union College of Laguna, Southern Luzon State University, San Vicente National High School, Mater Redemptoris College and VYP- MSC Institute of Technology.

The film is a story about Tacloban after Yolanda (Haiyan) aftermath, the film showed what was the situation at ground zero and how the people survived. The film also showed the resiliency and positivity of Filipinos. How we care for each other and how we manage to smile in spite and despite of the tragedy.

After the film showing, Direk Mendoza gave an in depth workshop on how to tell a story, how to properly research before it can be transform into a film. Direk Mendoza and his team went to tacloban and immersed themselves with the survivors. Direk emphasizes on “Found Story” and that it is where you can develop your material, your own indie film.

The workshop also gave an opportunity for the attendees to ask questions to the Taklub Director.

They were given exclusive peek at the Taklub behind the scenes, some tips on editing style, musical score and acting. It was a real treat for aspiring film makers and students.
