SM San Pablo Take Part in this Year’s Simultaneous Shake Drill

San Pablo, Laguna- Is SM San Pablo City prepared for an earthquake?

To intensify mall preparedness and strengthen the support for the local government’s commitment in building safe communities, the Philippine Red Cross-San Pablo Chapter with Bureau of Fire in response to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) invitation last  Wednesday, September 28th,2016- SM City San Pablo participated in the nationwide earthquake drill for the 3rd quarter of the year.

“Our preparedness does not rest in the hands of one person or one government agency alone. It rests in our very hands as we put them together on the concerted effort of building safer, adaptive and resilient communities,” Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin once said.

Ms. Dorie Cabella of the Philippine Red Cross served as the resource person during the briefing before the actual simulation. All employees of SM City San Pablo participated including front liners and SCMC Administration.

On social media- the City Government of San Pablo also encouraged everyone to participate in the #pagyanigchallenge. SM City San Pablo included simulations of retrieval operations, communications, as well as medical assistance, and evacuation.

Ms. Niña P. Wong, PR Manager, said that SM that “this is really a stepped up earthquake drill, work was stop, everyone was instructed to duck –cover and hold, and the mall was really evacuated. We want to make sure we have the knowhow just in case a calamity hit us “She also confirmed that there were more information dissemination this year round.
